Charles Tupper fonds. [1866], 1887.

This fonds consists of two letters and a certificate which pertains to a school board appointment in Yarmouth Co. The earliest letter is a transcription of a letter dated 9 August 1866 from Sir William Young of Halifax, Nova Scotia, to Charles Tupper concerning his appointment of a lawyer in a circuit court. The certificate is also dated 1866 and is a photocopied reproduction. The second letter is handwritten, dates from 1887, and is addressed to Sir Andrew Clarke and signed by Charles Tupper.

Sir Charles Tupper was born in Amherst, Nova Scotia, 2 July 1821. He was educated at Horton Academy in Wolfville and graduated from the University of Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1843 as an M.D. He returned to Canada shortly thereafter and began practicing in Amherst.
